6016: Homebound Instruction
As part of its contract with resident school district, ESU 4 staff may provide a contracted student with instruction in his or her home and under parental supervision under the following circumstances:
- if the student’s IEP or 504 team determines that homebound instruction is appropriate;
- if the student is physically or mentally ill or injured and unable to attend regular classes and the ESU administrator or his/her designee had determined that a program of homebound instruction is appropriate, after conferring with the student’s parents, teacher(s) and/or physician; or
- under other circumstances which the ESU administrator deems to be appropriate, after conferring with the administrator of the relevant ESU 4 program, the student's resident school district, the student's parents, teacher(s) and/or physician.
Homebound instruction may include a variety of in-person and distance learning services, as determined appropriate by the ESU administrator or relevant educational team. The ESU administrator or relevant educational team shall periodically review individual homebound instructional programs and shall only continue them as long as they are educationally appropriate.
